We are a top-tier global freight forwarder with a reputation for reliability, innovation, and excellence in supply chain solutions. Our Herndon, VA office is expanding, and we are seeking a detail-oriented Ocean Import Coordinator to join our high-performing operations team.

Position Overview

The Ocean Import Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery, ensuring smooth and timely handling of all aspects of the import process. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of international ocean freight procedures and U.S. import regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage full-container and LCL import shipments from overseas to U.S. destinations.
• Work with carriers, customs brokers, drayage providers, and warehouses to ensure timely and efficient cargo movement.
• Prepare and process import documentation including ISF, arrival notices, delivery orders, and customs entries.
• Communicate with clients to provide shipment updates, resolve issues, and ensure service satisfaction.
• Track shipments and proactively identify and address potential delays or disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, FMC, and other applicable government agencies.
• Maintain accurate shipment records in the freight management system and prepare billing/invoices in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with internal departments and overseas offices to coordinate special handling, routing, or customer-specific requirements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in ocean import operations within a freight forwarding environment.
• Solid understanding of international shipping, import documentation, and customs procedures.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in freight forwarding software (e.g., CargoWise, Magaya, or similar) and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy.
• Self-motivated, organized, and solution-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with ISF filings and HTS classification.
• Experience with bonded cargo, perishable goods, or other specialized commodities.
• Multilingual skills are a plus.
